“Rainbow” was a thru-hiker on the Appalachian Trail in 1988. He attempted a second thru-hike in 2011, but was forced to leave the trail due to injury; he completed that hike in 2016.
Rainbow was my hiking partner, with Papa Monkey, for roughly 400 miles.
