Although I wanted to leave at 7 am today, and the "compromise" time that was agreed upon was 8 am, we didn't actually wind up leaving until closer to 8:30 (due to another laundry mishap on part of the other hiker taking the shuttle; it turns out that lightweight hiker clothes don't dry very quickly when there are towels in the dryer). This meant I wouldn't get started on my 21 mile hike to Bears Den Hostel until almost 9 am.

The shuttle to the trailhead today left at 8:30. Normally, I would have had a problem with such a late start, but I was going to be slackpacking south today from the Trico Tower Trail, back to the Terrapin Station hostel, so getting an early start wasn't so critical.

I woke up around 5:30, and unable to get back to sleep, I just got started with my day, and left camp at 6:45, a record for me. (Also a bit of a necessity, since I was going almost 23 miles today.) Before leaving, I left a message for Beast in the shelter log, in case he was just somewhere behind on the trail and caught up eventually.

We almost met our start target of 7:30 today, but wound up leaving at 8 because Beast tried to dry his shoes in the dryers at the camp laundry. This wound up not working because the dryer doors didn't lock shut, so after a few minutes of running, the door popped open from the weight of supporting the shoes (so they didn't flop around the dryer).
