Today was a nice, low-key day. With nothing hike-related I needed to accomplish, I could just recover from lack of sleep and start to attune to Pacific time.
My food drops to Mt. Laguna and Warner Springs arrived at their respective post offices yesterday, so I shouldn’t have to worry about food for the next couple of weeks.
Lee made a delicious breakfast this morning of waffles and bacon.
After breakfast, Steve gave me a ride to Mike’s house, and I visited with him for a few hours while he could step away from doting on his wife and newborn. I hadn’t seen Mike in probably ten years or so, since he moved to San Diego, so it was nice to catch up with him.
In the early afternoon, Lee picked me up from Mike’s, and on the way back to her house, I got lunch at Five Guys. The restaurant itself was distinctly uncomfortable; the background music they were playing was so loud, it was difficult to have a conversation with Lee while we waited for food.
After returning to Steve and Lee’s house, I took a nap, and then got in a short walk around the block before dinner.
After dinner, I treated my hosts to a slideshow of photos from my Appalachian Trail thru-hike, which I started two years ago tomorrow.
Tomorrow: Pacific Crest Trail, here I come!
