Day 95: Zero in South Lake Tahoe
Saturday, June 23, 2018 11:26 pm
Location: South Lake Tahoe / Mellow Mountain Hostel

Today was a nice, relaxed day in South Lake Tahoe.

  • The guy on the bunk on top of me snores. It didn’t really bother me, but it rather disturbed Quoi’s sleep.

  • After sleeping in, Quoi and I walked to Black Cabin Coffee for breakfast. Lucky Duck joined us. The food was good, and I ordered two breakfasts because the first wasn’t filling enough. (Second breakfast was a salad; I apparently was craving greens.)

  • Quoi found out from Dylan that he somehow made his way to Seattle, for unspecified reasons, and might not be coming back to the trail.

  • We stopped at a food store on the way back to the hostel. Apparently, I couldn’t math, and bought twice as many pop tarts as I needed for the three days we expect it to take us to get to Truckee.

  • I took a nap. It was wonderful. I wanted to immediately follow it up with a second nap, but didn’t.

  • I was going to go to an all-you-can-eat restaurant, but the only available seating was at the bar, or with a 30 minute wait. It was also very loud, so I left, instead going back to Heaven’s Little Cafe for a burger.

  • I got a build-your-own ice cream sandwich at the Nestle ice cream shop. It was tasty.

  • Quoi gorged herself on all-you-can-eat sushi, and then went to a Robert Plant (of Led Zepplin) concert.

  • I chatted a bit with Rain Man, whom I last saw in Tehachapi. His group flipped up to Ashland, Oregon after turning back right before Pinchot Pass because another group they ran into was in the process of turning back.

  • Data (whom we met the day before Sonora Pass) gave me a plate of extra spaghetti he made. I ate about half the plate, and gave the rest to Craynip.

Tomorrow: sleep in, get breakfast, and get back to the trail.
