Hanging out with people is fun, but the late night last night wrecked my sleep schedule. I didn’t get to sleep until much later than I wanted, and as a result, didn’t get up until almost 10 am.

Today was a low-key zero day, but still involved a fair amount of running around Ashland. It was also a forced zero. Although I was likely to zero here anyway, I didn’t have much of a choice: I needed to send a package via the USPS, as well as put something in and take something out of my bounce box, and since the Post Office in Ashland is closed on Saturday (yesterday), and Sunday, there would be no way to get out of town any sooner than tomorrow.

I hadn’t really noticed it before, but sunrise has now noticeably shifted later: almost 6 am. The slowly drifting sunrise is, of course, making it harder to get up as early as I’d prefer.

Again, despite a 4:30 alarm, I didn’t start hiking until 6:30. I’m really looking forward to getting to town tomorrow and taking a short break; I feel like I’m getting more and more tired.

Despite setting an alarm for 4:30 and wanting to leave before sunrise, I didn’t leave Seiad Valley until shortly after 6.
