A deer graced my campsite this morning just before I left. I was surprised at how close it got to me as it wandered around nibbling on the grass.

It was relatively warm overnight, and I left two of my tent flaps open for ventilation. The light breeze blowing through was nice.

Staying in town is dangerous for sleep cycles. I didn’t get to sleep until far too late last night. Consequently, I slept in today, and didn’t get out of bed until after 8 am.

I again woke up at 5 am, wanting to get to the road and into town as early in the day as possible. The mosquitoes this morning were pretty awful, which fueled moving as quickly as possible, and I was ready to leave by 5:45.

At risk of sounding like a broken record, it was warm overnight, and possibly the warmest day of my hike yet. I couldn’t see any clouds when I left camp shortly after around 6:15, so the prospects of shade from the sky today seemed limited.
