Today is my 100th day on the trail. For the most part, it went well, and after yesterday’s detour to Truckee and resulting short day, Quoi and I returned to our newly-quickened pace, going a bit over 23 miles to a campsite more than halfway to the next town, Sierra City.

With the town of Truckee only 8.9 miles away, Quoi and I had the luxury of not having to get up terribly early, and we started hiking around 6:50.

I woke up at 6 am today, after having forgotten to turn on my alarm. As I expected, Quoi had already left: we decided last night that it probably made more sense for her to leave earlier than I do, since I’m the faster hiker. I’ll easily catch up with her at some point, and won’t have to wait (or wait for as long) at our checkpoint before the end of the day.

Today, I hiked 24.9 miles, my longest on the PCT so far (and less than a mile shy of my distance record on the Appalachian Trail).

I didn’t sleep too well last night, partially on account of the guy above me snoring, and partially because I just couldn’t get to sleep. Quoi also didn’t sleep well last night, especially because of the guy snoring, but also because she got back late from the concert.
