It was a very short 3.5 mile hike downhill for Quoi and I from our campsite to the road into South Lake Tahoe.

Quoi and I began our third 20+ mile day in a row at 7 am. The literal (elevation) high point of the trail for the day was along the side of The Nipple, a pair of mountains with rock formations on their peaks that, from a distance, look like nipples. Naturally, Quoi and I made no end of off-color jokes.

It was warm last night, but that didn’t seem to help me get started any more quickly; Quoi and I left camp after 7.

Quoi and I didn’t actually set a departure time for today, until around 2 am when she accidentally woke me up when she was going to the bathroom. I found it rather amusing that she managed to wake me up doing something quiet and mundane, but didn’t when she was intentionally making noise to scare off deer.

Forgetting that caffeine keeps me awake, and having plenty of it during dinner last night, I couldn’t get to sleep until nearly midnight, which meant I didn’t wake up until after 8 am today. Still, I was quite happy to get the sleep, even though it meant we were later for everything this morning than we might have preferred.
