Today began with a question from Papa Monkey: how long would it take to drive to Maryland to get my car? The answer was seven and a half hours. That posed a second question: should we get it?

Today, Rainbow and I would finally fill in the 17.7 mile section between VT 103 and US 4, including Mt. Killington, that we skipped, while Papa Monkey drove back to Connecticut to deal with personal business and hopefully get his car fixed. We left the Yellow Deli this morning with a plan to stay at the Hart Family's place tonight, since that would be close to where we'd continue hiking from.

This morning's breakfast, courtesy of the Yellow Deli and assisted by other hikers staying there, was eggs, toast, rice, and kale, and was just as good as it has been the other two days we stayed.

We got up around 5:30, and went back to the main house for breakfast, with blueberry pancakes courtesy of Hammer Time. There was a light rain, starting the day off somewhat drearily.

The morning started off with rain, heavier than yesterday, and a discussion on whether or not we really wanted to hike today. This resulted in a few flip-flops, before Papa Monkey declared he was hiking, because he had already gotten psyched up, and couldn't handle the whiplash of changing his mind again. This turned out to be a good decision, because the rain stopped by the time we were ready to go.
