I got started today around 7. A tenth of a mile later, I passed 700 miles remaining. After a nice, long, relatively flat section of trail (partially over roads), the trail began to climb Mt. Prospect. This provided a couple of nice views of a waterfall on the Housatonic River.

I got off to a lazy 9:30 am start, and made great time on the remainder of the flat trail along the Housatonic River, before the trail veered somewhat steeply uphill, with a bit of a rock scramble, and then back downhill towards CT 4.

With the weather forecast calling for rain this afternoon, and a resupply trip into Kent, CT planned, I wanted to get started early. I wound up not getting up until 7, and didn't leave camp until 8, later than I really wanted, since I stopped much further from Kent than I originally planned.

Wanting to get out of here before it got too hot, I got up at 5 am this morning. For there being no water around, the mosquitoes are awfully bad this early in the morning. I managed to get going in record time, leaving the shelter at quarter to six.

Attempting to beat today's heat, I managed to leave camp this morning at 6:50. The humidity was pretty awful, and the early day was through fog and some light rain, so while it wasn't really that hot when I started, and the first mountain wasn't really that steep, I wound up completely soaked by the time I got to the top of the first mountain today.
