Tahoe Rim Trail Gear

No thru-hike is complete without a gear list! This is the list of equipment I’m taking with me on my hike of the Tahoe Rim Trail. This is an evolution of the gear from my Appalachian Trail, Long Trail, Pacific Crest Trail, Benton MacKaye Trail, and Tuscarora Trail thru-hikes.

Hiking Gear

Camping Gear

Cooking Gear

Water

Clothing

Electronics

Stuff Sacks

Toiletries

Miscellaneous

Changes From Prior Hikes

Because the Tahoe Rim Trail is adjacent to the Pacific Crest Trail, my gear here is very similar to what I took on the PCT. I’ve replaced some colder-weather gear with warmer-weather gear (in particular, the sleeping bag, and not bringing a down jacket). Unfortunately, the Tahoe Rim Trail requires a bear can, so that’s in my pack, taking up quite a lot of space.
